Desire

Bohye Kim, also known as Bella Kim, is a South Korean artist. When she was thinking about what gives her life meaning and hugely affect her life, and through this process, she started to think about the meaning of desire. Healthy desire leads us to great achievement and excessive desire makes our minds and our lives difficult. Through her work, she reflect on her own desires, and through the process of creating, she learns how to deal with them. 

 

When you hear the word ‘desire’, it might sound negative, heavy, or too serious. However, in our real life, even the small everyday thoughts like "I want to do this" can also be considered desires. Once you realize that desire has a deep connection to us, you'll start to notice these small desires which are happening in your daily life.

Home​

Bohye Kim calls herself a ‘Modern Nomad’. One of her biggest desire is 'Home'. By 2025, she has lived in four different countries and fourteen different houses. Based on her experiences, she creates artworks with the themes of 'Desire', ‘Home’, ‘Belonging’, ‘Moving’, and ‘Memory’.

Through her working process, she is defining the meaning of ‘Home’ and her identity. Also, the word ‘Modern Nomad’ is established during this process. For her, home is not only about the building. Her home is formed by intangible things like relationships between family and friends, and memories.
